Spoonie Artist Meet Up #2
13th November 2019 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm£3
Apologies for having to reschedule the previous event time late notice – Ellie had a big old virus that wouldn’t go away cos, you know, autoimmune diseases and all that.
Anyway, we’re back and non-contagious and would love to see as many spoonies and disabled creatives from greater manchester as possible!
The special skill we will be sharing this session is… ORIGAMI. Donate a quid or so and you can take home a small forest of paper trees, ready to be strung up, dangled, or neatly positions somewhere in your nest.
——— What is the Spoonie Artist Meet-Up? ———-
This will be the second meet-up for Manchester’s Spoonie/Disabled/Neuodivergent creative population.
This is a meeting for #spoonieartists from around Manchester to come and get together in a totally wheelchair accessible venue, meet one another and work on their own creative projects.
We will provide you with a whole host of wonderful resources and materials to experiment with and enjoy, as well as some biscuits and a brew. This is also an opportunity for you to bring your own craft projects to get on with in a nice, friendly, social environment.
As the sessions go on, we will facilitate different arts and craft skill shares to go alongside each meet-up in a low-pressure environment.
This event will take place at The Yard Theatre, Hulme.
The event is open to everyone but is primarily a space for chronically ill, disabled, neurodivergent creatives to get together, socialise, play with and make art. It takes place at least once a month in a wheelchair accessible venue.
——- Accessing the Venue —————–
The Yard is on the ground floor and is wheelchair accessible. There are gender neutral toilets and accessible toilets. Music may be playing at a low volume, but can be turned off on request (you may also request this in advance via email). The room is spacious and there is access to a quiet outside space. There will be light refreshments available. Contact us on email@example.com for any additional information or requests.
The Yard is part of the Work For Change building (which also houses Venture Arts and Kim By The Sea). The entrance is the large blue door on the corner, with large “41” letters. Press the buzzer and someone will let you in and lead you to the room we’ll be in! Our number is 07539 371 070 if you have any trouble finding us.
By Car – The Yard has parking around the building which is free for 2 hours. There is also a disabled parking space a short walk from the entrance.
By Public Transport – Bus number 86 stops a 2-minute walk away (Old Birley Street stop). Bus numbers 53/250/256/263 also stop a 3-minute walk away (Hulme Park stop). The closest tram/rail link is Deansgate Castlefield, which is a 20 minute walk away.
